This film – „23 Barbie Dolls Collapse“, from 1988 – has run at least a hundred times through projectors … and you see the traces: scratches, lints. My first and most shown film ever (made in collaboration with Gesine Jochems). The colors haven't changed over more than 20 years – a warm Agfachrome still remains! The barbies were cheap and we found them at Woolworths, 99 Pfennig / cent each. They stand shakily on their tiny shoes and then collapse one after the other. Painted faces, gorgeous, big sad eyes.
